FORGET clothes or electrical goodies in the sales, I'll be wheeling my trolley around Sainsburys to clear the shelves of old fashioned light bulbs this January.
It's now only 12 months off before these incandescant bulbs are banned in Ireland and soon afterwards, if Good Old Gordon and the Brussels bureaucratic goose steppers have their way, they will also be confined to the history books on these shores.
However, who actually likes these green' light bulbs, which don't even work in half of the households in this country and give off a pathetic dim' hue, nothing like a good old 60 watter.
OK the new energy efficient' bulbs may last longer, but why should the consumer not have a choice about what lights up their homes? How dare we be dictated to, yet again, by politicians.
However, while not exactly being a fan of politicians, there's one person who shares many of my views who I wouldn't mind seeing in number 10 - Jeremy Clarkson.
So far, more than 28,000, myself included, have signed an online petition to get the Top Gear presenter voted in as PM and why not!
Let's face it, someone who loves 4x4s as much as Clarkson is hardly going to lose any sleep at night about whether he's mixed up his tin cans with his empty bottles. My hero!
A GRANDMOTHER is devastated after she was unable to see her great grandson - whose mum was killed last month - on his fourth birthday.
PLAYTIME at a Flixton nursery will remain a small-scale affair, the planning committee has decided.
Mercedes-Benz Manchester is inviting the region’s Mercedes owners to take advantage of its comprehensive winter check at the far from chilling cost of just £10.
ON Remembrance Sunday I set off to Springfield Road at 10.30am. I marched to the cenotaph with my comrades and on to St Paul’s and we arrived at 10.38 approximately.
A few days ago I went on the hunt for a sugar plantation, with Sue, a retired nurse from Britain who is over in Malawi doing six months’ voluntary work. She is based several hours’ north of us, in Salima, helping local nurses caring for and visiting people who are dying. At home Sue buys all her sugar from the charity Traidcraft – so we were looking for the co-operative who their white sugar.
