Somewhat sceptical about God

YOUR headline 'Power of a Mother’s Prayer'(SAM 24 July) suggests that you accept her view that her son’s recovery from an illness that is commonly fatal was actually due to divine intervention. As an atheist, I am somewhat sceptical about that idea (reputable studies of the power of prayer have not shown positive results, although there is plenty of evidence that a belief in one’s recovery can help illnesses). However, for those readers who believe in prayer, it would be helpful to know which god she was praying to. Her name suggests that it might be the Moslem one, so perhaps those who pray to other gods should redirect their efforts!
