The Friends of Newton Park meet at Timperley Taverners on Park Road at 7.30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Please join us this Wednesday, 3rd October, and help us make your park a better place to visit.

The Friends of Newton Park are holding their AGM on Wednesday, 5 September at 7.30 p.m. The venue is the Timperley Taverners on Park Road, next door to the Timperley Metro Station. Join us to discuss our plans to improve the Park over the next 12 months. We want your opinions and participation. Volunteers are needed to run the Friends group and to participate in our next work day. We hope you can make the meeting on Wednesday.

The old rose garden in Newton Park is being transformed, owing to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. A noticeboard has been installed outside the rose garden and work has started to clear away the weeds and old roses from the beds.

The council have allocated approximately 100,000 pounds for playground improvements in Newton Park as a result of residential growth in the area (Ramona Square etc). Initial design work has just commenced and it is expected that the new playground will be ready by March 2008. If you want to help shape your local park, then email Dave, the chairman of the Friends of Newton Park group, at 'the.eatocks@virgin.net'
