The full press release from Stretford Grammar School

1:13pm Monday 3rd November 2008

Having gained foundation status in January 2008, Stretford Grammar School now sets its own Entrance Test. The School held its first Test on Saturday, 27th September, for entry in September 2009. The Governors were clear that there should be a strong continuity with the Trafford 11+ examination to ensure that parents and their children could be confident in what to expect. Thus the elements of the Stretford Test are: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics - exactly the same as have been used in the Trafford testing arrangements. In addition, the pass mark of 353 is exactly the same as the Trafford pass mark. The Stretford Entrance Test was set by GL Assessment who have worked with Trafford for many years. GL Assessment have confirmed that the Stretford Test, which students sat this September, was not more difficult than previous 11+ tests. Nor was it administered any differently than in previous years. Furthermore, candidates’ Test papers were rigorously checked and standardised by GL Assessment.
