A Sale schoolgirl who was so impressed with the British countryside that she decided to write and thank Her Majesty, has received a letter from Buckingham Palace expressing the Queen's gratitude for her kindness.

CHERRY MANOR COMES OUT OF SPECIAL MEASURES

Cherry Manor Primary School in Sale is no longer in need of special measures according to Her Majesty's Chief Inspector. The decision made during the third HMI monitoring visit came as a result of the considerable improvements made to the school in the 14 months following an OFSTED inspection in September 2006. The provision of teaching and learning and personal development/well-being are now officially considered good.

Police horses Nickleby, ridden by Greater Manchester Police Constable Cording, and Fairfax, ridden by Police Sergeant Henderson, recently visited our school to show off some of their operational skills to the children in the playground.

YEAR 3/4 HEALTHY EATING TRIP

As school visits go, the visit to the nearby Somerfield supermarket wasn't the farthest trip Year 3/4 could have gone on - but it was certainly one of the most entertaining!

THE SCHOOL WAS ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC

The school was alive with the sound of music during this term when guitar, recorder, ocarina and Samba taster sessions were held at our school by the Wider Opportunities Group so the children could sample some new musical skills and develop musical awareness.

Blood pressure monitors and stethoscopes were the order of the day when School Nurse Jo came to tell Year 1/2 all about staying healthy and how to keep safe.

TASTEBUDS TINGLED AT SUNSHINE CAFE

Tastebuds were definitely tingling recently when children from the Small Specialist Class (SSC) went "on tour" to the Sunshine Café on the nearby Manor Estate.
