A top Trafford policeman has called for justice for Halton in an attempt to catch his killers.
On the anniversary of the murder of the promising young footballer officers were at the Stretford scene appealing for more witnesses to the shooting.
Exactly one week after 20-year-old Halton McCollin was shot at the China Gardens takeaway on Chester Road police handed out leaflets to passing people.
Last Saturday, 19 January, Halton had gone to the takeaway to get some food with his friends when he was shot.
It is believed that two masked men, one holding a gun, ran into the takeaway just after 8.45pm and a number of shots were fired.
The gunmen ran away, and Halton was found bleeding badly from his wound.
He spent the next three days fighting for his life in hospital, but died three days later.
CCTV footage of the area outside the takeaway and the nearby Gorse Hill pub shows several people who are potential witnesses to this crime.
Between 7.30pm and 10.00pm on Saturday there was a visible police presence at the scene with officers making further appeals to anyone who knows anything about how and why Halton was killed to come forward.
Superintendent John Graves from GMP's Trafford division said: "We are continuing to appeal to people to come forward and tell us what they know about Halton's murder.
"If you have seen any of the outpouring of grief from Halton's family and friends in the last week you will know how much this talented young lad meant to so many people. I challenge you to remain silent in the face of this tragedy.
"CCTV footage from the area clearly shows there were several people present who are vital witnesses to this murder.
"You know who you are and I appeal directly to you to search your consciences and come and speak to us. Justice for Halton, and the future safety of our communities rests in your hands. We will treat any information you give us in the strictest of confidence. You only need tell us what you know - we will do the rest."
Anyone with any information about this shooting is asked to contact the major incident room on 0161 856 4159 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
