A new farm business consultancy business has been launched in the North West. Harvey Hughes Independent Rural Consultants will provide advice and support to farmers and rural businesses in Cheshire, Shropshire, Lancashire and north Wales.
Operating from Blackmoss Court, Dunham Massey the new business will be owned and run by experienced farming and dairy consultants Howard Hughes and Chris Harvey as senior consultants along with David Harvey as consultant. The company will also retain its farm secretarial service.
Having worked for the past three years as Berrys ABD Limited as part of the leading chartered surveyors group, Berrys, the three partners are now back independently and look forward to growing their business throughout the region.
Senior consultant Howard Hughes said the new company would have greater freedom in the market place to offer independent advice to farmers. It will be able to source finance, land agency and professional services from a broad range of providers.
“We will still be working with Berrys in the future and hopefully undertaking joint ventures when appropriate,” said Howard.
“The core area of our business is farm consultancy and we will continue to offer independent, straightforward practical advice to farmers as we have always done,” he said.
“We feel we need to retain a more compact consultancy so that we can offer the value-for-money grass roots service our clients need in this challenging time for the industry. Farmers will know the face behind the advice.”
Harvey Hughes Independent Rural Consultants will specialise in farm business management, grassland management, ruminant nutrition, environmental services and grant support advice. Farm accountancy and book keeping services will continue to be available through the farm secretarial team of Doz Wainwright, Rachel Whittaker, Mandy Vernon, Michelle Hewitt, Lynn Briggs and Sarah Antrobus. Clerical support will be provided by Pat Garstang.
The new business will continue to organise events such as the Cheshire Farming Conference, which this year is being held as a debate on collaboration on Thursday, November 19 at Fourways Inn, Delamere, and Muck North West in March.
