A DAVYHULME primary school put in special measures after an earlier Ofsted inspection has made a remarkable turnaround by today being officially awarded a ‘good’ score.
Inspectors visited Kingsway on July 9 and after completing their report declared standards across the school had “risen significantly” since the 2007 inspection when the school was placed in special measures.
Head teacher, Alison Bowdon, was also commended for showing “commitment” and “dedication” in driving forward change, the report going on to say Kingsway was a “good” school with “many strengths”, and that there’d been noteworthy leaps in maths and writing.
“To move out of special measures and to be judged as good in such a short time is a fantastic achievement,” Alison told Messenger. “The children, staff and governors have worked extremely hard to move the school forward, with excellent support from parents. We are all very proud.”
