WHAT A WEEK! If you’ve been listening across the past few days you’ll know just how much has been going on… and it’s all good news!
Last Monday morning Chelsea and I announced live on the breakfast show that Key 103 will be - wait for it - the official radio station for all Manchester United and Manchester City’s games for next season!! That means you can hear commentary on every single match on our brand new show ‘Total Football’. You’ll be able to listen to this show on both Key 103 at the weekends and on our sister station Magic 1152 on AM on weekday evenings if there is a match being played. So if you’re a red or a blue and you’re near a radio when United or City are playing you know the game will be on either Key 103 or Magic 1152 next season.
This was also the week we launched Key 103’s massive summer event ‘Down Your Street’! Each week throughout August one of the Key 103 shows will be broadcasting live from someone’s street, and we’re taking a big chart act with us to perform. We’ve had hundreds of entries from you telling us all the great reasons to come and put on the party at your place… you have given us reasons like ‘I want to be more popular with my neighbours’, ‘Can you bring Take That to our street?’, and our favourite ‘The last time anything exciting happened on our road was when they resurfaced it in 1996’! Anyway, we’ve tried hard to find the most deserving streets across Greater Manchester!! We launched the month on Wednesday with the breakfast show coming live from Inglewood Close in Bury and we had Scouting for Girls performing live in Lisa and Denis’s back garden … check out the pictures here and the pictures really do say it all! Big thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome…. Next week Jason King is heading out with an artist who is flying in all the way from America to perform. Find out who on Monday Morning!

A few days ago I went on the hunt for a sugar plantation, with Sue, a retired nurse from Britain who is over in Malawi doing six months’ voluntary work. She is based several hours’ north of us, in Salima, helping local nurses caring for and visiting people who are dying. At home Sue buys all her sugar from the charity Traidcraft – so we were looking for the co-operative who their white sugar.
