AGE Concern Trafford has joined forces with one of the UK’s leading integrated power and gas companies to help older people become more energy efficient.

They are being encouraged to take advantage of a new service, designed to help them use energy more efficiently at home.

The EnergyRight service has been launched by Age Concern and E.ON. UK - the new name for Powergen. The initiative has been set up to provide face-to-face information and practical assistance to help older people understand and control their energy usage. Trained staff and volunteers will carry out individual home energy checks within Trafford, identifying on the spot easy steps older residents can take to boost their energy efficiency.

After the home visit, residents can also be referred for a benefit entitlement check to ensure that they are receiving all the Government benefits to which they are entitled; to handyperson schemes for practical assistance, and to other organisations that may be able to offer financial assistance for energy efficiency measures.

The project is being co-ordinated by Age Concern Trafford.

Age Concern Trafford also has a new Handyperson Service for older people living within Trafford. Do you need someone you can trust to carry out small jobs within your home? Do you need any small decorating jobs done in your home? There is a very reasonable rate for carrying out the work.

A home visit to give you an estimate for the work involved can be arranged by contacting Karen Duffy at Age Concern Trafford on 0161 746 9752.
